Infants who have a short frenulumMany people do not even know what it is to have a short frenulum, have heard of this term to refer to someone who has difficulty speaking. Tongue-tie is when the tongue is more subject to the bottom of the mouth than it should be, which restricts movement and makes the person who has it is having trouble speaking normally.

Sometimes this problem is diagnosed within weeks of birth of our son, when the doctor makes an examination to check his health, but sometimes you can not observe this anomaly until the child has trouble breast-fed or normally, or until we noticed that has trouble speaking when it is between 2 and 3 years.

If your baby gets a bottle, we will not know if it is tongue-tied, since they suck differently when they are breastfed by their mother when they drink bottle.

If you are breastfeeding our son, and has the following symptoms, you may have a short frenulum: difficulties attaching to the breast, chest shows while feeding, sore nipples, mastitis or other problems in the milk ducts in the mother needs constant feeding, has many colic, or has a slow weight gain.

However, you may have any of these symptoms and do not be tongue-tied. If you have any questions, or our baby finds it difficult to breastfeed normally, we must visit to our pediatrician, who can help us to know what is happening to our son.

There are many doctors who believe not necessary to remove the bridle until the child turns one year old unless they have many problems to breastfeed. In case you have to remove the frenulum, is a very small incision with a very simple procedure.
